Revolt Theory
Some archaeologists argue that though the Hohokam society collapsed, the people never left. In one version of Pima oral tradition the Pima revolted against the Hohokam. The Pima, led by Elder Brother, destroyed all of the Hohokam platform mound villages. They enlisted the help of a shaman to destroy the powerful village at Pueblo Grande with thunder. Today, it is generally believed that the Pima and O’odham people that the Spanish encountered in 1694 CE are descendants of the Hohokam people.
